FumeFX v4.0 for 3ds max

Sitni Sati has unveiled FumeFX v4.0 for 3ds max with many new features that help simulations to run faster and with more detail.
The new FumeFX 4.0 QCG solver is up to twice as fast than the CG solver found in FumeFX 3.0. Along with other simulation optimizations, FumeFX 4.0 can complete simulation faster than any previous version of FumeFX.
New vorticity type has additional control over vortices which helps user to fine tune the final result. The highly optimized Spline Follow force field allows various special effects that were impossible before.
Built-in Black-body radiation shader is a new powerful tool for achieving realistic fire and explosion animations.
Features such as faster solver, advanced vorticity, smoke and fire sharpening and improved caches handling will allow users to create more detailed simulations in less time.

Effectors are the most valuable and the most powerful feature. With just a few mouse clicks, artists can tweak the laws of physics or alter any simulated field based on built-in rules. For example, Effectors can drive setups where vorticity is controlled by velocity, gravity is controlled by smoke color and fire is created in voxels where velocity is above a user-defined threshold. All of this can be further refined by powerful test conditions or even confined to the Effector's gizmo.



RenderWarps are another great tool that will find application on many VFX shots. This feature allows users to apply space warps such as FFD, Bend, Taper and Noise to precomputed FumeFX caches. As RenderWarps are a post-process, re-simulation is not needed.


N-Sim enables artists to connect many grids together and execute their simulations simultaneously as one big simulation. This approach can be invaluable for increasing the level of detail in scene setups such as a rocket launch.

The GPU accelerated Preview Window is another time-saver, providing instant feedback for adjusting rendering parameters. Self-shadows are computed extremely fast and the user can orbit the camera around FumeFX with self-shadows in real-time(1). FumeFX also supports preview with geometry included in simulation.

Trapcode Shine 2: 3D Light Rays, Fractal Noise and 35 Customizable Presets
With Trapcode Shine’s new ability to link to an After Effects 3D light, users can generate 3D camera-aware light rays. Shine's new Fractal Noise tools enable users to add smoky, volumetric lighting to their motion graphics and visual effects. These Fractal Noise tools include masking and Parallax that simulate depth and organic behavior within the light. 35 customizable presets let users quickly generate light from text, or replicate natural effects like sunshine filtering through clouds or an ocean surface.

Trapcode Mir 2: Loop, Spiralize, Distort and Second-Pass Wireframes
Also getting a major upgrade, Trapcode Mir 2 adds a number of new ways to create and customize dynamic 3D surfaces, such as the ability to spiralize the mesh or deform the surface with spiral rotations. Create seamless looping fractal-based backgrounds, add a second-pass wireframe to create grid overlays on terrains and other surfaces, and choose between quad or triangle-based polygons for a surface.

► Mir 2 adds the ability to spiralize the mesh, deforming the surface with spiral rotations.

Animated Corona Proxy
added animation support to Corona Proxy. It uses the same .cproxy format as the old static proxy.
Anisotropy Improvement
Reflection anisotropy is now in object space by default (highlights are rotated when rotating the object). UVW-space anisotropy can be optionally enabled.
Added Corona Layered Material
New Layered Material works like 3ds Max Blend material, but it combines multiple materials instead of just two. This for example allows quick setup of complex rusted or worn-off materials.
Optional Render Elements Anti-Aliasing
Render elements can now have anti-aliasing enabled or disabled individually. Both elements with and without AA can be rendered in a single shot. Also the “Render elements without AA” checkbox was removed as it is no longer needed.
Corona Scatter – Collision Detection
Much denser packing of scattered instances is now generated when “Avoid collisions” is on and the instances are randomly rotated. We also added the “strictness”parameter – it relaxes the self-intersection constraint a bit, making it possible to densely fill an area with almost non-intersecting instances.

PlayblastVR is a new renderer for Softimage that creates hardware rendered panoramic 360 degree images using OpenGL. The PlayblastVR renderer allows you to create immersive previz renderings of Softimage scenes in LatLong, fulldome, cylindrical, and cubic panorama formats.

PlayblastVR supports panoramic rendering output directly to YouTube 360 and Facebook 360 format movies with automatic metadata embedding, and to Google Photosphere spherical panoramas.

GrowFX 1.9.9 Features are:

+ Added full compatibility with 3ds Max 2016 (64-bit);
+ Added the Cache mode. Now you can bake the growth or wind animation of your model, and then use the cache files in other projects. The recording process is multithreaded, so it works more faster for a whole animation than usual tree building when rendering;
+ Added the Bake Direction feature for the Object Reaction modifier. This allows you to bind the vines (for example) to the animated reaction object;
+ Added a new parameters Chaos pos %, Angle Bend and Length % for the Path Position Distributor;
+ Added the ability to convert the Path Distributor into the Path Position Distributor;
+ Added a new option Shift Start Point for the Noise direction modifier;
+ Added a new option Scale proportionally for the Leaves mesh;
+ Added a new option By Width Graph Points for the Leaves mesh;
+ Improved the Stop stitching feature for the Meta mesh, also added a new option Stop stitching for children;
+ Many bugs are fixed.
