IgNite for 3ds Max

ProxSi for 3ds Max

Nir Koshet Levi has shared a very handy 3ds Max script for V-Ray user to find and bind - V-Ray Hdri & Sun in few clicks. The script will scan your hdri and find the sun location then will create V-Ray sun in this position and bind it to V-Ray Dome light. You can rotate the rig by rotation the dome light or in the VrayHDRI map(horz rotation).
The Script works only with V-Ray and better with sun&sky hdri (one strong light). It was working while tested on max 2015 - 2016

mental ray for Autodesk Maya is Faster, Easier - and FREE

NVIDIA has announced that mental ray renderer soon will be available for free directly from NVIDIA with interactive viewport rendering and easy-to-use global illumination with substantial GPU-acceleration. Artists can use mental ray within Maya to craft scenes and render individual frames at any resolution, using any supported processor within a machine. NVIDIA mental ray is backwards compatible for scenes from earlier Maya versions. It’s also able to output .mi files to feed production pipelines.

A mental ray license will only be required for production rendering – which is complimentary for colleges and universities, and as little as $65/machine/year for commercial use.

They also announce that Next version will have the GPU acceleration for GI-Next and it make the rendering more faster. Since February, more than 1,000 beta sites have pounded on mental ray for Maya’s capabilities, like final-frame rendering in the interactive Maya viewport, progressive rendering, MDL material support and new global illumination (GI-Next) that is both faster and far easier to use.

Availability


The next mental ray will support Maya 2016 and 2017 on Windows, Linux and MacOS. Floating licenses are $295 or $995 for a 5-pack, while systems containing a professional NVIDIA GPU qualify for special pricing of $95 or $325 for a 5-pack. Customers who purchased mental ray standalone from Autodesk will have their subscriptions matched with NVIDIA licenses at no cost.

A better way to light up your shot with HDR LIGHT STUDIO v5.4

LightMap has introduced an important new updated version of HDR Light Studio. The popular 3D lighting software’s approach is further enhanced in v5.4 by the inclusion of adjustable handles on each virtual light used. These handles can be attached anywhere on the light’s edge, face or body and can be moved dynamically. This tactile move towards further maneuverability allows the artist to know exactly how and where highlights and gradients start and finish.


The click and drag lighting controls are joined by full three-axis rotation of 3D mapped lighting setups.


Adam Michell is the Product Rendering Artist at Logitech, based in the heart of Silicon Valley. He has been trying out HDR Light Studio v5.4 and gives his opinion on its performance. “Our main focus here in California is creating product imagery, where we create detailed studio shots for packaging and web,” he explains. “We're beginning to introduce more rich content in the form of product animations and lifestyle interior renders. We require very precise positioning of lights and HDR Light Studio v5.4 allows us to achieve this with greater ease and speed. It’s even more intuitive to use. These new transform tools work like my brain thinks.”

“I'm very excited to start utilizing the adjustable pivot feature and the local transformations. I'm always working with producers and art directors who can easily relate to moving lights around on a photography shoot but struggle when relating to lighting in 3D.”

HDR Light Studio integrates 3D lights into the workflow. You can now have the best of both worlds; exploration while seeing the planes move in the 3D space around your model, as well as precise control if you need specific light positions.

“Being able to click on my product and have the light focus exactly where I click is something I take for granted now. This can be very useful when trying catch highlights or be very precise with my positioning,” adds Michell.

There are 32 additional Studio Light Sources added to the Preset Library and v5.4’s connection to Maxon Cinema 4D now supports R18.

Substance Painter to V-Ray - Download Free SubstanceToVRAY tool for 3ds Max

Step 1 :
Note: This tool works with the default V-ray workflow (with change on gamma). Setup your scene as usual to export objects from 3dsMax to Substance Painter. Keep in mind to give correct name without forbidden characters to your shader it’s important.

Step2- Substance Painter
Import your model, bake and create all your shaders as usual (you can follow the great tutorial from Darren Wallace if you need help to setup scene).

Step 3- Substance Painter export.
Select the V-ray exporter in the config and choose format of your export and the folder where you want to export all your maps.

Step 4- 3dsMax import.
Launch SubstanceToVRAY tool (Scripting>run script>SubstanceToVRAY.mse) and select the folder where you create your maps. The script will find all the maps you create and recognize shaders.
If you click on CREATE Shaders, you will find on your material editors the shaders created (with correct gamma correction for the maps) ready to render. You can directly assign new shaders by clicking on “Update Scene Object”.

CentiLeo is faster than possible, unbiased, scalable, easy to use 3D renderer with complete GPU acceleration and without GPU memory limitations. This is possible thanks to efficient use of CPU RAM with all the computations processed by GPU based on efficient dataflow organization.

Some changes in CentiLeo 0.462 alpha for Cinema 4D R16-R18 :

*Now the glass is created by setting only transmission.weight to 1 and you don’t need to disable default Diffuse.weight to 0. According to a new convention the weight of transmission layer overrides diffuse. If you want to mix transmission and diffuse then you should to make transmission weight less than 1. This is similar to other engines.
*Fixed incorrect glass rendering with IOR values larger than 1. And now it looks much more beautiful.
*Fixed “black highlight” bug in subtle rough reflections.
*Fixed issue which caused slow render when there are many light sources with crazy different areas and intensities.
*Added option “Contribute to only GI” to the light sources which helps to add more indirect light to interiors without increasing the number of ray bounces. Increases the speed of interior rendering, flicker-free, similar to portals accelerator for GI.
*Cinema4D Plugin: The camera (from CentiLeo menu) is created with position and orientation of the current camera.
*Cinema4D Plugin: Default environment color is used if there are no any light sources in the scene.
