Reallusion Character Creator 2.0 Launches with New PBR Shaders

The new Character Creator 2.0 (cc2),which is an add-on tool for iClone comes with the ability to create PBR shaders, allowing users to import PBR textures created with other 3D paint tools like Substance Painter, 3D Coat, or Quixel. Users can now export their Character Creator assets to iClone 7, Unreal, Unity, or Sketchfab with the same PBR visual quality. A variety of material channels that work in sync with image based lighting options result in a more accurate interaction between light and surfaces.
Character Creator previously only provided a single light source but the new 2.0 update now allows users to customise their IBL environment in, while syncing the sky map to their IBL light with natural DOF effects and colour tone.

RailClone Pro v3.0.0 beta is Available for 3ds Max 2012 to 2017

IToo Software has recently released the first Beta versions of Railclone 3 with new features and fixes for testing.
Registered users of RailClone Pro can download the upgrade from the User Panel->Beta versions. For any question about this release, please use the RailClone beta forum.

Feature highlights:
• Added Macros. This feature allows you to create new nodes by creating sub-graphs. Macros to output numeric values, geometry, and generators are all possible.
• New algorithm to align Linear Generator with planar and closed splines. It computes initial banking angle (X Rotation in Generator) so segment's Z axis is perpendicular to the plane formed by the first and last spline's segment. This method works much better when creating frames, windows, etc
• Added "Auto Align" option to Array Generator->Extend X/Y Size mode. This option creates array aligned automatically with each sub-spline. This mode is very suitable for roof and panels.
• Added Generator A2S->Clipping Area->Hierarchy Checking Mode. This options determines the way that RailClone processes stacked splines for Extend X/Y Size mode.
• Added RailClone Color
• Continuous mapping feature (Segment->Mapping) is completely rewritten. Now it should generate correct mapping under all conditions.
• Added "UVW Offset" to Generators.
• Added mode to Compose: 'In Sequence' or 'Grouped'
• Added Style Linking. This feature lets you to link a RC object to other, so Style changes done on Master are dynamically reproduced on slave.
• Added 'Retain Value Mode' to Numeric parameters. It overrides behaviour for Retain value feature (used on Library, Copy Style and Style Linking procedures)

Improvements
• Added support for V-Ray 3.5
• 'Note' nodes have been rewritten. They are now resizeable, have user definable colours and can move child nodes.
• Generator A2S->Limits and Padding are disabled when using Clipping Area->Extend X/Y Size
• Added Y Spline mode to A2S Generator: defines what coordinates are used for the Y Spline: Y/Z or X/Y.
• Style->"Operate On" is changed to "Quad" by default.
• More Generator parameters are available for exporting (specifically combo values).
• Transform->Fixed Size is computed before applying other transformations (as Rotate or Scale).
• Updated expressions engine to V3.
• Added option to extract all Segments to the scene.
• New dialog for Export Parameters/Attributes. It allows to change multiple parameters from multiple selected nodes (of same type).
• Seed parameter now is animatable.
• Added "Pivot Offset" to Transform node.
• Added next properties to Arithmetic->Expression
• Modified the way that arrays are generated when using multiple splines. Previously rows were created using all splines (Row 1 of Spline 1, Row 1 of Spline 2, etc).
Now one array is generated completely for each spline (Row 1 of Spline1, Row 2 of Spline 1, etc) allowing their row sizes to operate independently.

Chaos Group has released V-ray 3.5 for Maya, which improved rendering speed, more responsive look development, and added realism for VFX and animation projects. Major GPU rendering improvements are included in the update as well, with support for a wider range of production features. If you want please join their event!

New additions included:


Faster rendering with Adaptive Lights
V-Ray 3.5 introduces Adaptive Lights, a fast new lighting algorithm that speeds up rendering in scenes with many lights. With Adaptive Lights, V-Ray determines which light sources are most important, so ray tracing calculations are focused and more precise. When tested on multiple CPU and GPU scenes, render times were typically two to seven times faster.


Interactive look development in V-Ray IPR
Look development is quicker and more responsive in V-Ray 3.5 for Maya. The improved V-Ray IPR starts instantly, updates faster and uses less memory. Changes to materials in the Hypershade Material Viewer now update instantly as well.

V-Ray Frame Buffer tools
New V-Ray Frame Buffer tools make rendering with V-Ray IPR even faster. The Render Mask: Isolate select mode focuses rendering on a specific object without rendering the entire scene, and a new Set Focus Point option allows the camera’s focal point to be set interactively, simply by clicking on an object.

Improved shading and reflections
For more accurate reflections and realistic skin, V-Ray 3.5 for Maya adds support for the alSurface material. Developed by Anders Langlands, the alSurface shader includes layered subsurface scattering and glossy Fresnel reflections. This makes it a popular choice for rendering photorealistic skin.

GPU rendering improvements
- On-demand Mip-mapping – Fit larger, more detailed scenes into memory with automatic texture sizing and loading
- Matte Shadow catcher – Composite 3D scenes with realistic shadows onto background images
- Improved glossy materials – Cleaner renders of glossy materials
- Low thread priority – Continue working while rendering, now possible on a single GPU
- Directional lights – Add realistic area lights with directional controls
- Stochastic Flakes – Create car paints, snow and sand with procedural glitter and sparkle effects

Replay is the easiest way to record, run, edit, and export macros and simple scripts in MODO. Automate your workflow, no code required. The plugin requires MODO 10.2 or later.
Automating repetitive tasks in Replay is much quicker than with traditional macros, and we wrote our own command listener system that catches much more detail and nuance than the built-in macro recorder in MODO.

Quickstart:
Install the kit
• Click the R icon in the MODO Modes Bar
• Click the record icon at the bottom-right
• Perform some actions to record. Note that these should NOT be interactive actions.
• At any time during recording, you can stop recording by clicking the record icon again. If you begin recording again, new commands will be inserted after the currently-selected command.
• To run the script, click the play button. To test the script step-by-step to find errors and efficiencies, use the step button.
• To modify the arguments of a command, either right-click > Edit on the command (or moddle-click on it for short). Note that you can edit like-named arguments from multiple commands at the same time using multi-selections.
• To reorder commands in the list, simply drag and drop. If you prefer, you can use the reorder up, down, top, and bottom commands in the right-click menu.
• Click Macro > Save. The save dialog defaults to your MODO user Scripts directory.
• Once saved, you can run the script using the run menu in the MODO Modes Bar, or using Macro > Map to Key....

Anima 2.5 for 3ds Max and Cinema 4D

AXYZ design has released the latest update to its crowd simulation tool for 3ds Max and Cinema 4D. Anima 2.5 has been designed for rapid simulation of large crowds while retaining the versatility and artistic freedom that users need. Nearly every aspect of an animation can be controlled, and for the first time it is now possible to import and use custom characters and motions.

This major update comes with lots of new features such as:
• anima: Ready-Posed Actors are now supported! Several Ready-Posed Metropoly models are now included in the default anima installation
• anima: An integrated online shop for Rigged and Ready-Posed actors is now available!
• anima: A new Export option is now available from the Scenes menu, allowing you to convert your scene into a common 3D format! The exporter module has the same limitations as the anima Plugin if no license is currently active
• anima: A fully revamped Custom Actor and Motion Clip FBX importer is now available!
• anima: The texture variation system has been upgraded! The usage of custom protection masks has been included in most of the new Ready-Posed actors. The introduction of protection masks allows you to modify variation colors at different levels, even when the material count is limited
• anima: Libraries have been updated! They have been divided into expandable groups, allowing for better filtering or visualization of the libraries depending on the current editing mode.
• anima: A first-time configuration screen has been added. Multiple configuration options such as default paths, the displayed units and the preferred 3D viewport renderer can be selected when starting the application for the first time.
• 3DS Max Plugin: Scanline materials can be applied regardless of the renderer being used. (Scanline support is dependent on the renderer)
• Cinema 4D Plugin: A Plaster material preset has been implemented.

And Bug Fixing :
• anima: *IMPORTANT* Revamped general dialog, toolbar and docking system to improve compatibility with newer systems. Fixes an issue where multiple OS bugs could be triggered by the application, like massive slowdowns due to OpenGL issues introduced in newest Windows 10 updates. If you’ve encountered such issues before, we recommend testing this new version of anima.
• anima: Fixed a rare issue where a certain type of simulation could cause different results on different systems when attempting to render it. The simulation results should now be consistent across all systems.
• 3DS Max Plugin: Increased the range of the allowed speed multiplier values.
• 3DS Max Plugin: Fixed several issues with the default scanline materials.
• 3DS Max Plugin: Fixed an issue where actor arrows would not show up at the proper scale after changing the units of the scene.
• Cinema 4D Plugin: Improved material library with Material Adapter window. From this window you can create photorealistic materials for your current renderer but also allows you to select from alternative options like Plaster or Semi Opaque materials for stylized results. To load photoreal materials leave the settings on Regular Config and click Apply Materials to import the Anima scene.

SceneTerrain 1.0 for Blender

SceneTerrain-a landscape creation and population plugin for Blender developed by Arnaud Couturier has been released with the first version in the 1.x development cycle. In version 1.0, SceneTerrain comes out with more important features to make them always more user-friendly, getting terrains that are as realistic as possible. Changelog:
• new: populations layers can be added, edited, removed. They are used to control how the populations are distributed on the terrains.
• new: 2 new tree species, with 3 variations for each. The included library is therefore made of 7 species for 21 tree models.
• change: the textures for the terrain material are "point-mapped", and no longer "texture-mapped". This lets you enter directly how many time you want a texture (flat, mountains etc) reapeated on the terrain.
• change: the default seed for the terrain is no longer zero, that means the terrain will not be different each time you generate one, by default. Zero can still be entered manually though.
• change: the detail texture overlays for the terrain flat area, mountains and beach biomes are deactivated by default, because they make it difficult to control the color variations of the texture, and often make them too dark.
• change: the trees from the library have been renamed to include only their common name. Their full name were trimmed by Blender, in addition to being difficult to read. So if you have broken links in your blend files to SceneTerrain's trees, simply re-import them.
• improvement: the seed for the terrain can be randomized with a button, if you just want some random terrain/seed
• improvement: each tree's leaf material is randomized for a slight variation of color. The randomization can be augmented manually for stronger and more varied effects
• improvement: GUI re-organization, the custom terrain shape is accessible from the now-unique shape tab, as an option, and a new export tab is now present for RAW exports, and the coming formats.
• improvement: each population now has a default number of instances, useful to avoid re-entering it in the particle system's settings each time when re-populating the terrain.

This useful script by ImagineCG will help you delete all overlapping objects in any imported model with a few clicks.

Note:
- before launching the script you have to convert all the geometry in Editable Polys
- DDO script deletes all the overlapping objects only if they share the same vertex number
