Meshonline has released a new add-on bringing similar functionality to Blender. Voxel heat diffuse skinning algorithm can overcome the shortcoming, it converts the non-seamless character into a solid statue, heat diffuses in the solid statue, so we can get the most natural vertex weights.

The voxel heat diffuse skinning had already been equipped in Autodesk's Maya and 3ds Max for years, but Blender users don't have an opportunity to benefit from the feature.

Karlovo namesti 288/17 Prague - October 24th 2017 - The latest update to Corona Renderer brings many new features focused on VFX and characters to this CPU-based un(biased) photorealistic renderer.

Rendering is now up to 8 times faster (dependent on the scene) thanks to a new improved sampler, a new optional adaptive direct lighting algorithm, optimized glass / water sampling, and faster and better adaptivity calculations.

New dedicated Hair and Skin shaders make it easier than ever to create realistic characters with great results from defaults, and Corona Renderer is now fully compatible with all major hair and fur rendering tools (Hair Farm, Ephere Ornatrix, and 3ds Max native Hair and Fur).

The Material Library is a collection of over 300 pre-made Corona materials, featuring a range of common materials that can be used ‘as is’ or as a starting point for users to create their own materials. Materials can be dragged and dropped into the viewport or the Slate or Compact material editors, are sorted by category, can be set as favorites, applied to all selected objects, or all objects using a material can be selected, all from within the Material Library interface. This is the first iteration of the Material Library, and features and functionality will be expanded in the future, e.g. allowing users to add their own materials to the Library and more.

The CoronaMaterial has been updated, and now includes a new Subsurface Scattering mode to make it easier to create solids with SSS such as marble, and Dispersion has been added allowing enhanced realism of glass, gemstones, jewelry, etc.

Other improvements include: a universal Bump converter allowing any map to work correctly as a bump map; a UVW Randomizer map to vary textures across objects and instances; a dedicated Corona Camera; and reduced memory requirements.

The update also brings with it an extensive list of other improvements, features and bug fixes, and is compatible with 3ds Max versions 2012 to 2018.

Strange attractors is a new motion designer that comes with X-Particles 4. They are flexible and allow about 8 different input settings with various designs. It is one of the major updates that has been brought to X-Particles. The video below would give you an understanding of how it works.

New Features

xpStrangeAttractors
Create abstract, chaotic particle animations inside X-Particles 4. xpStrangeAttractors comes with eight inbuilt settings; each setting produces individual designs and comes with a preset value that provides a basic shape. Use with global modifiers; scale to increase and decrease the overall pattern, or Delta which acts as a speed control so patterns develop more quickly or slowly. Each preset has constants A to F; these can be individually adjusted to create different designs. xpStrangeAttractors works brilliantly with xpTrial object, just drop in a Trail for animated flowing splines. Trail objects can also be meshed using xpOpenVDB, so you can quickly produce great abstract geometry.

xpNewtonGravity
Now, any object can be given its own gravitational pull, place the object in the attractor's window and particles will be attracted to it. You can adjust the speed and positioning of the particles and adjust the strength of the gravitational pull using the attractor mass – increasing or decreasing intensity. Dynamically resize your particles in relation to the distance from the object – and set the maximum and minimum radius, kill particles that get too close to the object – by using kill distance. Multiple Objects can be contained within a gravitational field or use the xpNewtonGravity tag so individual objects can have their own gravitational force, producing realistic gravity and orbit animations.

iClone PopcornFX Particle Effects

Reallusion announced recently that it would be integrating PopcornFX, particle effects technology software with iClone, which is its real-time 3D animation software. The work-in-progress plugin is called ‘PopcornFX iClone Particle Plug-in, and it would be available for shipping in December.

You can take advantage of PopcornFX's 3D particle systems which include: Billboard, Ribbon, or Mesh to create any form of particles and bring your energetic particles to iClone, with the liberty to manipulate them with illumination control, rigid/soft body physics, and complete timeline editing. Also, you can save and reuse your own custom particle effects with other effects, or target objects.

• VHS Transition: A transition that mimics the effect that occurs when a VCR has been used to record over pre-existing footage.
• Retrograde Transition: A transition that uses real scans of 16mm and 8mm film to create an authentic film strip transition.
• Carousel Transition: A transition that mimics advancing to the next slide in an old slide projector.
• Flicker Cut: A transition that rapidly cuts between two clips or a solid color, and which can invert the clips or add fades.
• Camera Shake Transition: A transition that mimics camera shake while it transitions between clips.
• Channel Surf: A transition that mimics the distortion you’d get by changing the channel on a cathode ray tube TV.
